Business context
Quick Swappers set out to build a marketplace around exchange rather than straight resale — users list what they own, browse what others have, and trade directly. That shifts the product problem: discovery, negotiation, and trust all have to work before a single transaction completes.
The problem
A swap marketplace only works if both sides can find each other quickly and negotiate with confidence. The platform needed dense category browsing, fast page loads for a media-heavy catalogue, realtime negotiation between strangers, and a payment path for the cash difference on uneven trades.
Constraints & complexity
The solution
A high-performance marketplace built on Next.js with server-side rendering for the catalogue, backed by a Node.js, Express.js, and MongoDB API. Category browsing spans vehicles, real estate, furniture, mobiles, home electronics, sports, and pets, with location scoping so trades stay local. Realtime chat carries the negotiation, and Stripe handles payment where a swap needs balancing. The application runs on cloud infrastructure managed for stability and scale.
